HTC HD2 Touch screen not responding

My HTC HD2 screen stopped responding. It will work one time but not the other. Sometimes is was almost impossible to get it unlocked. Very frustrating. I am running a custom rom from xda developers using this tutorial http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/08/15/how-to-install-cwm-nand-android-on-htc-hd2-video/ (great tutorial).

Anyway, I did some research and found that there were many solutions for getting the screen to work responsibly. It seems that resetting the phone back to stock Window 6.5 did not work for many people. Sending it back to HTC, TMobile or getting it repaired at a local shop were among the options. But then, I found this solution “press down hard enough on the end call button”. This solution seem crazy. But I figure I start with the simplest solution and scale up. So I tried it and guess what, it worked. So far so good.

I guess I will update this post if something changes. By the way, I found this solution on the xda developers forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213809

I will keep track to see if the problems returns. If you having this issue, try this first before you send it out for repair. Good luck.

Windows XP holding on as dominant OS

Windows XP isn’t going down easy.

The ten-year-old OS has gradually been shedding users over the past several years but is still hanging onto to its huge chunk of the market.

In April, XP’s market share inched down to 46.08 percent from 46.86 percent in March, according to data out today from Net Applications. That followed a roller-coaster ride that saw XP’s audience rise and fall slightly each month since last November 2011.

At the same time, Windows 7 continues to grow in popularity. Last month, the current flavor of Windows grabbed a 38.67 percent share, up from 37.54 percent in March.

The trend over the past year clearly shows Windows 7 gaining on its predecessor. In April 2011, XP held a 55.84 percent share, while Windows 7 hovered at 26.36 percent.

Still, XP’s grip on the market remains tight. Microsoft has been aggressively encouraging users and businesses alike to switch from XP to Windows 7, obviously with some success. But it’s been a relatively slow and gradual move.

Adidas plans world’s first ‘smart soccer match’ for July

The company says that it will use its miCoach system to provide coaches with real-time tracking on players playing in the Major League Soccer All-Star Game on July 25.

According to the company, the MLS game will be the world’s “first smart soccer match,” allowing coaches to track player performance on the pitch. Adidas hasn’t revealed too many details on how the service will work, but it appears that coaches will be able to access real-time player statistics, including speed, acceleration, and power output, from a tablet. The software also provides alerts coaches might need to consider.

Although Adidas calls its player-tracking software the “next step in player performance analysis technology,” it might make some sport purists take a step back. The kind of information to be made available to the MLS All-Star Game coaches is unlike anything they’ve had before. And that kind of data could make the game more reliant upon raw data than instinctual decision-making — a key aspect of soccer since its inception.

.SiteMap not showing in child master pages in .net

I recently came across this problem again. It was a while since last time. Anyway, the sitemap would not show when placed inside a child master page (a master page that inherit from another master page…just to be clear). After messing with it, I remember what I did last time.

On the child master page, set the AutoEventWireup=”true”. That’s it.

<%@ Master Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" ...

I hope am able to save sometime for someone outthere.

You ever wondered…What are those “%20″ codes in URLs?

Uniform Resource Locators or (URL) is a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) that specifies where a known resource is available and the mechanism for retrieving it. For example, http://www.google.com

Sometimes you come across some weird URLs that contain %20, %22, etc. It will be great to clean the URL and see the path of the resource. Well, I found a pretty neat URL encoding converter what will take the guessing game out the URL mistery. Check it out.

My PC is infected with malware!

Has your computer been acting funny, crashing, running slow, or displaying unusual error messages? Have you been promiscuously clicking on Web links and opening up attachments from strangers? You could have a malware infection.

A doodling tablet coming to the Wii

Wow this will be fun. Can’t wait to play Pictionary on the Wii.

Game developer THQ unveiled on Tuesday the uDraw GameTablet. The accessory, which is designed exclusively for the Wii, allows people to draw and color on a 4-inch by 6-inch surface with a detachable stylus. As the player draws on the tablet, the artwork will show up on your television screen. The tablet’s uDraw Studio software, which comes with the tablet, is what allows players to draw and color.

Suit alleges Disney, other top sites spied on users

There was a story on CNET last week regarding a law suit that alleges that a group of well-known Web sites, including those owned by Disney, Warner Bros. Records, and Demand Media, broke the law by secretly tracking the Web movements of their users, including children.

Very interesing because we know that spywares and other tools out there track and collect your information and we have this idea that sites like the ones above are “safe”. Humm, looking forward to here the outcome of this one.
